Abandoned stuff is best stuff.

My wife (then girlfriend at the time) and I went to an abandoned chicken processing plant in southern VA a few times. The last time we went we (no shit) drove up the dirt road to find a shirtless dude with a mullet and a hatchet chopping wood with a horned goat on a rope tied to a nearby tree. Completely random, miles away from civilization, with not even a trailer that was remotely close to the site.

We turned around and didn't go back after that.

Finding people in abandonments is always unpleasant. The worst is when you can hear them but not see them.

Last time was when I was at an abandoned rubber products factory in Youngstown. Entered a building and we could hear people cutting apart metal for scrap in the next room. We didn't stick around.

That goes both ways, though... if they can hear you but not see you you can use it to your advantage. Exploring an abandoned coal breaker near Scranton, I was 3 floors up but my girlfriend was still on the ground floor when I heard voices coming from near her location. I folded up my tripod and slung it over my shoulder and charged down the stairs making as much noise as I could. Turns out it was a couple of kids, probably 11-12 years old. When I popped out of the stairwell to find them they were frozen like a deer in headlights and white as a sheet.

My Dad used to talk about Hatfield Lake all the time. It's amazing to see a place that used to be so lively just become abandoned. And Belle Mina is just trapped in time, I remember going through there relatively often, it's a ghost town. Also, if this is the one I'm thinking of, I've been to a party there lol.

Apparently someone reported to the NCAA about the Auburn officials before last weeks game, because they actually got 3 holding calls. Granted, their left tackle holds on every other play, but it was a start.
